UMB hosted the annual University System of Maryland (USM) Women's Forum "Empower, Develop, Engage" on Oct. 19, 2018. 

UMB gave scholarships to four UMB employees to attend:

• Saifa Poole, assistant to the senior vice president of external affairs and special assistant to the president, Office of the President
• Tyra Johnson, budget analyst, CASS
• Glosenda Navales, assistant director, accounting, Administration & Finance
• Carol Shelton, executive administrative assistant, SOM, Public Affairs Office
• Debra Modlin, accounting analyst, ORD, Office of the Vice President
