The Parking Cashiers office will be re-opening at the SMC campus center beginning Monday, Sept 14. All services will be by appointment only on Monday's, Wednesday's and Thursday's using a link provided by the office.  Applications for parking must be submitted in advance for processing. Unfortunetly, no walk up service is permitted at this time. Once you have an appointment, please show the security desk personnel at the SMC upon entry for access to the lower level of the SMC.  Please email parkingcashier@umaryland.edu or call 410-706-5518 for more information.

The Office of Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) has implemented a new traffic/garage text alerts system to inform the UMB community about traffic conditions affecting immediate travel to and from campus. The alerts also will inform the UMB community of any urgent operational incidents regarding our garage facilities. Updated July 17, 2020 

Lexington Market Garage parkers: Beginning Thursday, July 23, Lexington Market Garage will return to normal operations. You will be required to park in your designated area within the garage. Rooftop parkers must park on the roof and not on the lower levels. Access to Lexington Street Garage (660 W. Lexington St.) will again be restricted to after 4 p.m. and weekends per PTS policy. Parkers who do not adhere to these instructions will be charged the visitor rate when exiting garage.

Beginning Monday, June 29, Penn Street and Pearl Street garages will reopen on a limited basis. Temporary hours of operation for each garage will be 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays only. All permit holders are expected to park in their assigned garage when open and abide by parking rules and regulations.  Staff requiring parking outside of these temporary hours may park in Pratt Street Garage. All parkers are required to use their parking credentials when entering and exiting the garages.

Effective Wednesday, March 25, the following parking facilities will be closed until further notice:

  • Administration Lot
  • Saratoga Garage

Beginning Monday, April 6, all open UMB garages will be set at a max rate of $9 per day for visitors, patients, and patient transporters until further notice. Vouchers will still be accepted and staff “pay daily rate” will remain the same.

“Our intention was ... contributing to sustainable goals by reducing our carbon footprint and, honestly, making it easier for the staff to perform tasks driving a smaller, energy-efficient vehicle through the facilities,“ says Brian Simmons, assistant director of PTS.

BGE Pipeline Update

Construction crews will be working in various locations for the next several weeks in preparation for the abandonment procedure. Drivers and pedestrians should expect street closures and detours. Primary streets closures are Redwood Street and Greene Street in front of the University of Maryland Medical Center. This project will begin May 14 and continue throughout the summer.

Grand Garage Renovations

Renovations begin in  Baltimore Grand Garage in August 2019. These renovations will include facade repairs, painting, deck coating, drainage, and way-finding signage.

It's Time to Plan!

Know what to do in the event of an emergency garage closure BEFORE you come to campus.

During an emergency — such as winter weather, a hurricane, civil unrest, or a power outage — all 24-hour campus garages will remain open. However, non-24-hour garages will close and parkers will need to park in specific garages.
