News and Alerts

June 1st campus parking information:
  • All garage rates will return to normal posted garage rates
  • All parkers need to return to their assigned garage location
    • With the exception of students that are able to park in the Penn and Baltimore Grand garages until August 1
  • The Saratoga St. garage will re-open to normal business hours 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • The Pearl St. garage operating hours will be 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • The Penn St. garage operating hours will be 5:30 a.m. to midnight
  • Administration Lot will remain closed due to upcoming construction project
    • Adminstration Lot parkers will park in the Saratoga St. garage
Pratt St. garage renovation starting April 12, 2021 (updated May 3)

Pratt St. garage renovation and upgrades begin April 12th and will last approximately 16 months. A total of 230 spaces will be impacted during this time, decreasing garage capacity. Phase I begins in the basement and will not be accessible for four (4) months. Occasionally, vehicles will be redirected to the Penn St garage as daily capacity is reached. Facility hours and card access are being modified in Penn St garage to assist with any potential overflow. Pratt parkers will be allowed to park in Penn St. garage during normal operating hours, which have been extended to 12 midnight, Mon-Fri.

The Office of Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) has implemented a new traffic/garage text alerts system to inform the UMB community about traffic conditions affecting immediate travel to and from campus. The alerts also will inform the UMB community of any urgent operational incidents regarding our garage facilities. UMB Parking Goes Green

“Our intention was ... contributing to sustainable goals by reducing our carbon footprint and, honestly, making it easier for the staff to perform tasks driving a smaller, energy-efficient vehicle through the facilities,“ says Brian Simmons, assistant director of PTS.

BGE Pipeline Update

Construction crews will be working in various locations for the next several weeks in preparation for the abandonment procedure. Drivers and pedestrians should expect street closures and detours. Primary streets closures are Redwood Street and Greene Street in front of the University of Maryland Medical Center. This project will begin May 14 and continue throughout the summer.

It's Time to Plan!

Know what to do in the event of an emergency garage closure BEFORE you come to campus.

During an emergency — such as winter weather, a hurricane, civil unrest, or a power outage — all 24-hour campus garages will remain open. However, non-24-hour garages will close and parkers will need to park in specific garages.
