Beginning Monday, June 29, Penn Street and Pearl Street garages will reopen on a limited basis. Temporary hours of operation for each garage will be 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays only. All permit holders are expected to park in their assigned garage when open and abide by parking rules and regulations.  Staff requiring parking outside of these temporary hours may park in Pratt Street Garage. All parkers are required to use their parking credentials when entering and exiting the garages.

Effective Wednesday, March 25, the following parking facilities will be closed until further notice:

  • Administration Lot
  • Saratoga Garage

Beginning Monday, April 6, all open UMB garages will be set at a max rate of $9 per day for visitors, patients, and patient transporters until further notice. Vouchers will still be accepted and staff “pay daily rate” will remain the same.

The Office of Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) has implemented a new traffic/garage text alerts system to inform the UMB community about traffic conditions affecting immediate travel to and from campus. The alerts also will inform the UMB community of any urgent operational incidents regarding our garage facilities. “Our intention was ... contributing to sustainable goals by reducing our carbon footprint and, honestly, making it easier for the staff to perform tasks driving a smaller, energy-efficient vehicle through the facilities,“ says Brian Simmons, assistant director of PTS.

BGE Pipeline Update

Construction crews will be working in various locations for the next several weeks in preparation for the abandonment procedure. Drivers and pedestrians should expect street closures and detours. Primary streets closures are Redwood Street and Greene Street in front of the University of Maryland Medical Center. This project will begin May 14 and continue throughout the summer.
