“How to Recognize Implicit Bias”

This workshop will help participants in all health care fields explore how their assumptions impact behavior and choices around communication, innovation, hiring, and organizational culture. Participants will obtain basic knowledge of unconscious bias as it relates to our individual and group identities, thinking styles, and leadership behaviors and will begin to understand how to mitigate the impacts of their biases. 

Bio

Kristin Reavis, MD

Kristin Reavis, MD ’09, MBS, is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM). She serves as the associate residency program director and the director of maternal-child health for the residency program. Reavis completed her undergraduate education at Morgan State University before earning her master’s in biological sciences at Drexel University. She earned her medical degree from UMSOM in 2009, then completed her residency and fellowship training in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. She joined the faculty at UMSOM in 2013 and practices the full scope of family medicine.
