Chief of Staff, Wes Moore’s Gubernatorial Campaign

Tisha S. Edwards, MSW ’00, JD ’01, is currently the chief of staff for Wes Moore’s Maryland gubernatorial campaign. From 2019 to 2021, she was the director of the Baltimore Mayor’s Office of Children & Family Success, created under Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young. 

She has been the president of BridgeEdU, a social impact organization that provides hybrid technology and coaching solutions designed to remove the barriers inherent in higher education and improve academic performance for underserved students. She also served as a transition executive for then-Baltimore Mayor Catherine E. Pugh and as the mayor’s chief of staff during the first year of her administration. From 2014 to 2017, Edwards was the vice president of corporate affairs for War Horse Cities, where she oversaw philanthropy and government relations.

She was the interim chief executive officer of the Baltimore City Public Schools System from 2013 to 2014 and its chief of staff from 2009 to 2013.

Edwards earned her BSW from the School of Social Work at Georgia State University in 1998, her MSW from the University of Maryland School of Social Work in 2000, and her JD from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 2001.

She has served on the University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation, Inc. Board of Trustees since 2016.
