West side of UMB’s Pearl Street Garage adjacent to Arch Street

Arch Gallery features artwork from the third issue of 1807, published in autumn 2021. Jennifer Litchman, MA, who is editor-in-chief of 1807 and UMB’s senior vice president for external relations, said, “UMB is an urban university ... and now we've added all this gorgeous art to the concrete. ... We have one more place to go where we can see the beauty in our everyday life.”

Pearl Street underpass 

Located in the Pearl Street underpass on the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) campus, this exhibit was inspired by the spring 2019 issue of 1807, which encourages students, faculty, staff, and community members to submit unpublished artwork in the categories of visual arts (painting, drawing, illustration, digital art), photography, varied media (sculpture, clay, metal, glass, textiles, jewelry, wood), and the written word (short story, essay, narrative, poetry.

First floor of the Health Sciences and Human Services Library (HSHSL) at University of Maryland, Baltimore

Since its opening in 2003, the gallery has hosted both individual and group shows featuring local and national artists.  Mediums include photographs, paintings, drawings, sculptures, mixed media pieces, and traveling exhibits from institutions such as the National Library of Medicine, Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.  Baltimore schools have also collaborated with the HSHSL to show student artwork in the Weise Gallery.
