Establishing the Gordon and Holly Bell Endowed Professorship at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry

In this video, Gordon M. Bell, DDS, an alumnus of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD) and Holly G. Bell, his spouse, share their story and why they became legacy gift donors to the school. The Gordon M. Bell DDS and Holly G. Bell Endowed Professorship through the University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation, Inc. (UMBF), funds a UM School of Dentistry professorship. The Bells continue to add to the fund through their Charitable Remainder Trust, or CRT.

During an interview at the School of Dentistry, Dr. Bell explains that his successful career as a dentist was due to the excellent education and training he received while in dental school. In addition to learning the technical foundation of dentistry, he learned the necessary skills of critical thinking, problem-solving, and how to act quickly while under pressure. While touring the UMSOD new dental teaching lab, the Bells also watch a professor teaching dental students. They talk to students, exchange experiences, and discuss how the school and its facilities have changed and modernized. Due to its immensely positive impact on his career and their lives, the Bells chose to give back to the UMSOD. They affirm it's the best way for them to pay it forward -- so the next generation of dental care providers receive the best dental education possible.
