IEIE supports the University's accreditation efforts through coordination, expertise, and institutional resources.

A central component of this work is the Accreditation and Assessment Unit (AAU), a cross-functional team that provides ongoing support for accreditation and assessment activities across schools and programs.

Role in IEIE

The AAU serves as the operational support unit for accreditation and institutional assessment. It coordinates reporting, supports institutional alignment with accreditation standards, and facilitates the integration of assessment practices across the University.

Core Functions

The AAU supports institutional accreditation activities by:

  • Coordinating accreditation schedules, documentation, and reporting resources
  • Reviewing draft self-studies and institutional reports and providing feedback
  • Supporting resolution of accreditation findings and related action plans
  • Aligning University strategic outcomes with Middle States standards
  • Supporting institutional reporting processes, including required accreditation submissions

The AAU supports University-wide assessment efforts by:

  • Maintaining an inventory of assessment activities and outcomes across schools and programs
  • Supporting documentation of student learning outcomes and evaluation processes
  • Facilitating discussions on assessment practices and continuous improvement
  • Providing guidance on assessment expectations and best practices
  • Supporting communication and visibility of institutional assessment resources

Accreditation Committees

UMB's accreditation process is coordinated through dedicated committees that oversee institutional self-study and reporting activities.

  • Steering Committee

    Oversees the accreditation process, providing guidance to working groups, setting deadlines, reviewing progress, ensuring alignment with standards, and making high-level decisions to keep the self-study on track.

  • Logistics Committee

    Coordinates the operational aspects of the accreditation process, including scheduling, documentation collection, communication, and ensuring that all working groups and stakeholders meet deadlines and procedural requirements.

  • Working Groups

    Analyzes specific accreditation standards, researching related questions, drafting findings and recommendations, compiling supporting evidence, and submitting a chapter of the self-study report.
