The Diversity Advisory Council (DAC) serves as a University-wide advisory body that advises the Chief Inclusive Excellence and Institutional Effectiveness Officer/VP (CIEIEO/VP) on institutional priorities, initiatives, and strategies that support and advance inclusive excellence, equity, and justice at UMB.

The DAC also supports awareness of institutional nondiscrimination policies (UMB Notice of Nondiscrimination (UMB Policy VI-1.00(C)) and related University commitments.

Core Functions

The DAC:

  • Elevate important issues to University leaders using an equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice lens.
  • Provide consultation for current and new initiatives including climate surveys, campus-wide dialogues, and cross-cultural awareness and learning opportunities for students, staff, and faculty.
  • Advise on best practices and approaches to attract, retain, support, and advance a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
  • Recommend approaches and accountability measures informed by institutional and external best practices to ensure that ongoing efforts around diversity, inclusion, and justice are well-coordinated.

Membership

Each school may appoint 1 faculty member, staff member, or student. School representatives are appointed by their Dean.
