Research Performance Progress Report G.10 Response for SNAP Awards
Regardless of expanded authority to carryover funds, a carryover of 25% or more should be reported in G.10a. of the Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR). And even though SNAP awards have expanded authority to carryover funds, Grant Management Specialists (GMS) compare the spending against the "Current" total approved budget, not including "automatic" carryover.
Use fields G.10a.-c. to describe carryover over 25%. For significant carryovers, we recommend using F.10 to further describe challenges and delays.
Please see the recent inquiries below from different GMSs requesting additional information regarding the unobligated balance response in G.10 for SNAP awards:
GMS Inquiry 1-R01
The RPPR did not report that there will a unobligated balance (UOB) greater than 25% of the current approved budget, but currently, our accounting system notes that your balance is $256,689.24 with the last transaction recorded on 12/3/2025, which is not at or below the threshold amount to $143,571.75.
- Please confirm what is your UOB as of 11/30/2025.
- Please address this discrepancy.
- If the UOB is greater than 25% as of 11/30/2025, please provide a budget and budget justification on how the UOB funds will be spent for the remaining time of the project.
GMS Inquiry 2-R01
Grants Management Specialist Millie M. has requested that Progress Report Additional Materials (PRAM) be submitted through the NIH eRA Commons system. Dr. Good has an unobligated balance of $388,594.45, which is 61%. Please provide a justification and spending plan.
- *Note: The GMS calculated the carryover based on the current award amount, which was $632,866.
