Strategic resource alignment ensures that institutional priorities are translated into meaningful action. By aligning funding with strategic goals, UMB can:

  • Budget Funding Request System (BFRS)

    The Budget Funding Request System is how units request discretionary funding. Each request shows how proposed initiatives support UMB's strategic plan, helping the university focus resources on its highest priorities.

  • Managing for Results

    UMB participates in a state-required performance accountability process. This framework reports goals, measures, and outcomes to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), helping ensure funds are used efficiently and goals are met. Both current year highlights and historical data are available.

    Using data and evidence to guide funding decisions helps UMB invest strategically. For example, the Access and Engagement Innovation Grant demonstrates how evidence informs the allocation of resources to projects that advance University priorities and create impact.
