Compliments and Complaints

Compliments and complaints can be easily submitted to UMB Police and Public Safety by clicking the button below. Once submitted, you will receive a Reference ID and link so you can track the status of your compliment or complaint. We have provided step-by-step instructions below to address any questions when filling out the form. If you have a question, please submit it here. 

As part of its CALEA accreditation, the public may also provide comment and feedback regarding UMB Police and Public Safety's compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status. These comments may be compliments or concerns.

How to Submit a Compliment

  1. Click the button above. 
  2. Click "Submit a Compliment." A pop-up box will appear to create a new compliment. 
  3. Submitting a compliment:
    1. If you would like to submit your compliment anonymously, click the "Yes" radio button.*
    2. If you would like to submit your information with your compliment, click the "No" radio button.
      Enter your first and last name, preferred notification method, and your e-mail address and/or cell phone number.*

      *Please note: If you submit anonymously or choose not to provide your contact information, we will not be able to contact you for additional information. However, you will receive a URL after you submit which will allow you to review the status of your submission. 
  4. Click "Create." A new screen will appear where you will enter more information about your compliment.
    Note your Reference ID at the top of the page. You can use this ID number and link to track the status of your submission.
  5. If you entered your contact information on the previous page, it will be transferred here under "Your Personal Information." You may enter your sex, race, date of birth, and contact address if you choose, though they are not required.
  6. Incident information:
    1. If you received an agency report number, enter it here. 
    2. Date and time that the incident occurred is a required field. If you do not know the date and time, you can either make your best guess or select "Today" as the date and "Now" as the time. 
    3. In the text box, describe your compliment. The box is limited to 4,000 characters. This is a required field. 
    4. Enter the address where the incident occurred. This is a required field. If you do not know the exact location, you can either make your best guess or enter the location of the UMB police annex (222 North Pine Street, Baltimore, Md. 21201). 
    5. Upload any files, photos, videos, or any other information we should know about your compliment. 
  7. Employee information:
    1. If you would like to compliment a specific employee, please include their badge number and/or name if you know it.
    2. If you do not know the employee's badge number or name, please describe their appearance or any other identifying information (e.g., vehicle, uniform, etc.).
    3. If you would like to compliment more than one employee, please click "Add Additional Employee" and enter their information. 
    4. Please note, this is a required field. If your compliment does not involve an individual employee, please write "None."
  8. If you would like to add witness information, click "Add Additional Witness" and enter their name, email address, and/or phone number. If you add this section in error, click "Remove."
  9. Once your information is complete, click "Submit" at the bottom of the page. 
    1. If you did not complete all required fields, you will receive an error. Please complete the required fields and click "Submit" again. 
  10. A pop-up box will appear with a submission acknowledgement that the information you are providing is true and factual to the best of your knowledge. Click the "I agree" box and click "Submit" again. 
  11. A new screen will appear that says "Your Form Has Been Successfully Submitted." Remember to save your Reference ID and/or bookmark the link to track the status of your email. 
    1. If you entered your email address, you will receive an email confirming your submission, which includes your reference ID and link. Please check your junk/spam folder if you do not receive this email within 10 minutes.
    2. If you entered your phone number, you will receive a text message confirming your submission, which includes your Reference ID and link. 

How to Submit a Complaint

  1. Click the button above. 
  2. Click "Submit a Complaint." A pop-up box will appear to create a new complaint. 
  3. Submitting a complaint:
    1. If you would like to submit your complaint anonymously, click the "Yes" radio button.*
    2. If you would like to submit your information with your complaint, click the "No" radio button.
