Trainings and Programs

The University of Maryland, Baltimore Police Department (UMBPD) holds year-round programs and events with our UMB community.

Many of our programs have been put on hold during COVID-19. We will continue to strive towards safe and innovative ways to connect with our community during the pandemic.

National Events

National Night Out

On the first Tuesday in August each year, the UMBPD welcomes UMB students, employees, and neighbors to our National Night Out event. This national community-building campaign promotes police-community partnerships that make our neighborhoods safer.

Polar Bear Plunge

Every January, UMBPD officers join law enforcement partners from across Maryland for the Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge. Plungers jump into the frigid waters of the Chesapeake Bay to support Special Olympics Maryland. In 2021, we held a "virtual plunge" to stay safe during COVID-19.
