Ebola Outbreak - May 18, 2026

Risk ratings for several countries modified due to ongoing Ebola outbreak

In response to the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, International Operations has temporarily changed the travel risk ratings for several nearby countries in order to gain better visibility on anticipated travel to those locations. The changes are as follows:

  • Rwanda (low to high)
  • Kenya (medium to high)
  • Tanzania (medium to high)
  • Uganda (medium to high)
  • Zambia (low to high)
  • Angola (medium to high)
  • Republic of Congo (medium to high)

These changes will be reverted depending on the outbreak's trajectory.

Travel to all of the named countries (except Uganda) can proceed as scheduled. The purpose of these changes is to immediately identify prospective travelers so that UMB's international safety and security team can reach out to them and advise them of the health environment and potential risk factors at their destination cities/countries.

Please contact International Operations if you have any questions or concerns.
