Welcome to the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB)!

We are so excited that you've chosen to continue your academic journey at UMB. UMB’s New Student Orientation complements your program-specific orientation by bringing the campus together to welcome students from across the University.

In just a few hours, discover university-wide support services, essential locations on campus, and the best part of being a student at UMB – connecting and collaborating with peers outside of your school or program. This is also an opportunity to learn about and ask questions about student requirements.

What happens at New Student Orientation?

Most in-person orientation sessions are held in the SMC Campus Center (621 W. Lombard St.), with a few exceptions, and are broken into two parts.

During "Spotlight Sessions" (approximately 30 minutes) and “Additional Featured Sessions” key student success and support offices will provide a brief overview of their essential services designed to enhance your health, well-being, safety, and experience during your time at UMB.

After this session, you will join the "Student Services Showcase" (30-60 minutes). During the showcase, students are invited to breakout sessions, tours, and resource tables where you can meet with representatives from a variety of on-campus services to ask your questions and discover how to make the most of your university experience.
