About the Trainings

Prescription Drug Prevention Training
We are committed to educating the UMB community about opioid use, misuse, and abuse. For this reason, it is mandatory for all first-time full-time students to complete the prescription drug abuse prevention course.

All first-time full-time students are required to complete an online Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention module provided by UMB through VectorSolutions. All other students will receive the module as an optional resource. A hold will be placed on the accounts of any first-time full-time students who do not complete the module.

First-time full time students must complete the online Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention module by Sunday, October 15, 2023.

The training will focus on:

  • a variety of topics, including the science of addiction, recognizing the signs of abuse, properly using and disposing of prescription drugs, strategies to assist others, and treatment resources.
  • empowering students to make well-informed decisions about drugs.
  • making you aware of your rights and responsibilities as a member of our campus community.

If you have questions regarding the training, please email rs-studenttrainings@umaryland.edu.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Are student employees required to complete the Title IX twice every year?

The Title IX training is an annual requirement for all members of the UMB community. To ensure all members receive information relevant to their roles, three are versions of the Title IX training available. One for UMB employees, one for UMB students, and one for UMB affiliates.

Due to their dual roles within the University student employees are expected to complete the Title IX training for students and the Title IX training for employees. This enables student employees to effectively understand their rights and responsibilities under Title IX as both a student and staff.

Are online students required to complete the trainings?

Yes. All students, including students who complete their instruction exclusively or primarily online, are required to complete both trainings.

After completing the training(s), do I need to upload the certificate(s) of completion?

No. The Office of Accountability and Compliance (OAC) and UMB Student Affairs monitor the trainings through VectorSolutions. Each office is automatically notified when you complete the trainings. Therefore, there is no need to upload the certificates after completion.
