Where does Safe Walk and Safe Ride go?

Safe Ride is available from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. on the UMB campus and in surrounding neighborhoods.

Why can't the Safe Ride take me anywhere I want to go?

UMB Police and Public Safety wants to help get you to your destination safely. Our Safe Ride map covers the UMB campus and many surrounding neighborhoods, including areas where students and employees commonly park and live.

Our Safe Ride boundary is in place to include frequently visited areas while allowing our limited Safe Ride vans and drivers to be able to provide service to our entire UMB community. As our boundary expands, it takes longer for our drivers to drop off riders and return to campus, which extends our wait time.

The UMB Shuttle has service to areas beyond the Safe Ride boundary, including Mount Vernon, Federal Hill, Canton, and Fells Point.

Lyft Ride Smart at UMB also offers discounted Lyft rides within an extended boundary.

Can I bring a child on Safe Ride?

Safe Ride is available for students and employees who are 18 years or older. All riders are required to have a UMB ID or UMMC ID. We are not able to provide Safe Rides to anyone under the age of 18.
