Faculty

Faculty retention requests are for faculty who are being actively recruited by other institutions or where there is compelling evidence that a preemptive action is necessary to prevent the loss of a valued faculty member. This exception to the restriction against salary increases should be used judiciously. All retention increases must be reported to the Chancellor. Faculty retention increases will be approved on a very limited basis.

Specific instructions for Faculty Retention form are included in the form.

  1. Complete  Faculty Retention Form
  2. Attach additional documentation:
    • Statement of Business Needs from department head
    • Documentation of written offer letter or recruitment
  3. Send all documentation to the Office of the Vice President, Administration and Finance.
  4. Vice President, Administration and Finance will review all documents and forward for approval by the President.
  5. Vice President, Administration and Finance’s office will notify department of final determination.

 Operationally Critical Staff

A retention increase may be requested for an operationally critical staff member who is being actively recruited by other employers or whose loss would be seriously detrimental to the University. All staff retention increases must be reported to the Chancellor. Retention increases will be approved on a very limited basis.

Specific instructions for staff retention form are included in the form.

  1. Complete Staff Operationally Critical Retention Form
  2. Attach required documentation:
    • Statement of Business Needs from department head
    • Documentation of written offer letter or recruitment
  3. Send all documentation to HRS Compensation.
  4. Compensation will review all documents and forward for approval by Vice President, Administration and Finance.
  5. Vice President, Administration and Finance’s office will notify department of final determination.
