Improving Reproductive Health Access through Education with Technology and Innovation

Brief polling will assess the audience’s current knowledge of recent legislative changes impacting the provision of reproductive healthcare and scope of practice. Presenters will share national and state data related to the current provision of advanced reproductive health and family planning services, identifying gaps in access to care nationally and at the state level. Presenters will poll the audience to gauge beliefs and knowledge related to interprofessional team practice to improve access to reproductive healthcare services and to understand the audience’s use of teaching and learning technologies. Presenters will introduce a new interprofessional learning opportunity that includes the use of multiple technology interventions, including open educational resources, hybrid learning, and mobile deployment simulation.

At the conclusion of the session attendees will:

  1. Describe recent changes in access to reproductive health care nationally and subsequent health professionals’ scope of practice at the state level following the Supreme Court Dobbs decision.
  2. Discuss the current and new pedagogical approaches being used at UMB to enhance and expand access to health professions education and training through interinstitutional collaboration.
  3. Identify how technology can be used to prepare for and optimize clinical education and training.

This interactive session will examine recent legislative changes impacting the provision of reproductive healthcare and scope of practice, discuss gaps in access to care nationally and in Maryland, and examine beliefs about interprofessional practice in this domain. Participants will be introduced to an interprofessional learning opportunity that includes multiple technology interventions, including open educational resources, hybrid learning, and moblile deployment simulation.
