Fall Kick-Off: Galaxy Meditation Hour| Wellness Suite|September 6, 1 p.m.

Students are invited to lay under a simulation of stars and aurora for an hour of meditation.  

Fall Kick-Off: Wellness Suite Opening| Wellness Suite|September 6, 3:30- 5 p.m.

Students are invited to visit the wellness suite, meet URecFit and Wellness staff, and learn about student wellness programs and services. The first 50 visitors will receive a "wellness toolbox" of give-aways to assist in maintaining your well-being throughout the fall semester. 

Fall Kick-Off: Take a “Paws,” Yoga, Well-Being, and Sustainability Tabling Event | SON Lawn| September 13, 11:30-1 p.m.

Please join URecFit and Wellness, the Student Counseling Center, and the Office of Sustainability to take a “Paws." This event will inlcude a yoga class, pet therapy with visiting dogs Pippen, Marcel and Miss Maddy, along with giveaways and information about student well-being.

The Student Counseling Center (SCC) will host a table with educational pieces on mental health and self-help tips for starting the semester off strong. Students can stop by the SCC table for goodies such as badge holders, stylus pens and freshly made lavender bags used for personal calming or relaxation.

Also, stop by the Office of Sustainability table for NatureRx prescription cards with information about green spaces around UMB. NatureRx encourages students, staff, and faculty to spend time outside to reduce stress and anxiety, increase energy, and boost their mood!

National Recovery Month: Sober Curious Talk| Virtual | September 15, 2-3 p.m.

Have you heard about the Sober Curious movement? Come learn more about how Sober Curious events are changing how we think about drinking. Dr. Jenna Silverman from the Student Counseling Center will discuss the Sober Curious movement and ways to integrate it into your life. Register here.

Galaxy Meditation Hour| Wellness Suite| September 20, October 4, October 28, 12 p.m.

Much research has shown that mindfulness meditation can reduce stress. Students are invited to drift off under simulated stars and aurora for a drop-in hour of meditation every 1st and 3rd Tuesday.

National Recovery Month: Virtual Naloxone Training| Virtual | September 21, 12-1 p.m.

A virtual Naloxone training will be led by The Maryland Department of Health Overdose Response Program, and will cover the current statistics for overdose fatalities in the State of Maryland, what is naloxone and how to administer this life-saving medication, the 8 signs and symptoms of an opioid overdose, the five key steps to respond to an opioid overdose, information on the Good Samaritan Law, and how to get naloxone in your community. Individuals who participate in the training will be eligible to receive a NARCAN kit. Register here.

Stress Busters: Survive to Thrive: Achieving Academic Life Balance| Virtual | September 28, 12-1 p.m.

E-Cigarette/Vapes: What We Know, What We Don't Know, and Living Tobacco-Free | Virtual | September 23, 12-1 p.m.

You've seen e-cigarettes/vapes online, in stores, and around campus. Since they were first introduced a decade ago, we've learned more about these products and the consequences of using them. This webinar will cover what we know about e-cigarettes, the tobacco industry's targeted marketing of their products to specific communities, and Maryland resources to help your friends and family live tobacco-free. Register here.
