Workshops and Events

Well-being is strengthened through learning, practice, and connection. Our workshops and events provide opportunities for students to explore wellness topics, build practical skills, and engage with peers in a supportive environment.

Programming may include educational workshops, interactive experiences, awareness campaigns, discussion-based events, and special wellness initiatives designed to support student well-being throughout the academic year.

Workshops and events are offered on a variety of topics, including stress management, sleep, healthy habits, connection and belonging, mental health, and other areas related to the SMILES Fundamentals.

Nourish and Connect: Yoga and Dinner for Restful Sleep| Wednesday, October 14, 6-7:30 p.m., SMC Campus Center Room 208A

As the semester picks up, take time to reconnect with the habits that support your well-being. Join us for a gentle yoga practice designed to reduce stress, release tension, and promote restful sleep. After yoga, enjoy a nourishing dinner while exploring practical strategies for prioritizing sleep and strengthening healthy routines through the SMILES fundamentals: Sleep, Move, Intake, Light, Engage, and Spark.

Leave feeling relaxed, connected, and equipped with simple habits to support your well-being throughout the rest of the semester. Register here.

 

Craft & Connect is a student-led initiative designed for students to manage their stress, connect socially, and to find joy through creativity. No artistic experience is required, and all supplies will be provided.

Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration does not guarantee or reserve a craft. Students are strongly encouraged to arrive at the beginning of the session.

Craft & Connect: Art Therapy, Wednesday, September 16, 3-6 p.m., SMC Campus Center, URecFit and Wellness, 5th floor. Craft and Connect is a monthly themed student-led event designed to engage students in a guided discussion about art therapy while completing a tye dye tote craft. No artistic experience is required, and all supplies will be provided. *Please note that topics related to mental health may arise during discussion. Take a "Paws" Pet Therapy Maddie, Marcel, and Pippin will be there to bring a little joy and hopefully brighten your day. Pet therapy takes place in the HSHSL Library Gallery from 12-1 p.m.

Stress Busters is a nationwide college health program that helps students rediscover relaxation. You've been go-go-going and we want you to take a breather. Sooth the stress away with a variety of simple and creative ways to feel relief during finals season. UMB Stressbusters events are co-sponsored by URecFit and Wellness and USGA.
