Michelle Peralta is the health educator for UMB’s Wellness Hub. She has a key leadership role in developing and directing strategic wellness initiatives on campus to improve the quality of student health on campus. She builds a culture of wellness through the Kindness Initiative, Drop-in Meditations, Walk with a Future Doctor, and other initiatives with the support of her Wellness Fellows.

Peralta has developed health campaigns on mental health, drug prevention, stress management, and sexual assault prevention with multiple partners on campus. She presents wellness workshops to MB students, faculty and staff. Her interests include stress management in school and the workplace, mind-body techniques, mindfulness, meditation, and yoga.

Prior to her current position, Peralta worked with the Center for Integrative Medicine, part of University of Maryland School of Medicine, and various nonprofits in Philadelphia providing education on health, fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle changes.

Michelle completed her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Temple University and is completing her master’s degree in public health with an emphasis in community and population health. Additionally, she is taking the Integrative Health and Wellness certificate in the Graduate School. She seeks to empower people with creative solutions for behavior and lifestyle change.

Lauren Levy, JD, MPH

Lauren Levy small

Lauren Levy was the managing director of the Law & Health Care Program at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, where she provided strategic direction and operational management for a nationally ranked health law specialty program.

Before that, she held a faculty appointment in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. A UMB employee since 2004, Levy completed her Juris Doctor degree at the Carey School of Law in 2011.

In June 2019, Levy left UMB for her new role as health officer for the Cecil County (Md.) Health Department. 

“Through my participation in the various UMBrella events and programs, I have been able to broaden my vision of what is possible and build the confidence necessary to take on this new challenge,” Levy said.
