Clearing Your Browser Cache and Cookies

Clearing your browser's cache will open the most recent version of a page.  This is important when periodic maintenance includes page updates or revisions such as new buttons or additional fields.  

The following quick reference will show you how to clear cache quickly in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge or Internet Explorer. 


Google Chrome 

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More .
  3. Click More tools > Clear browsing data.

  4. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.

  5. Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.

  6. Click Clear data.

Google Chrome for iOS 

  1. Open Google Chrome on your iOS device.
  2. Click on the menu toolbar in the bottom right corner.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select Privacy.
  5. Select CookiesSite Data, and Cached Images and Files. At the top, set the Time Range set to All Time.
  6. Click Clear Browsing Data at the bottom of the screen.
  7. Then confirm by clicking Clear Browsing Data again.

Safari for iOS 

1. Open the Settings app.

2. Tap Safari.

3. Tap Clear History and Website Data.

4. On the screen that pops up, choose Clear History and Data.

Safari for macOS 

1. Click on the Safari tab at the top left of your screen and choose Preferences from the dropdown menu.

2. Click the Advanced tab of the menu that pops up.

3. At the end of the tab, select the Show Develop menu in menu bar box and close the Preferences menu.

4. Click the Develop tab from the Safari menu at the top of the page.

5. Click Empty Caches from the dropdown menu.

Firefox 

  1. Click the menu button  and select Settings.
  2. Select the Privacy & Security panel.

  3. In the Cookies and Site Data section, click "Clear Data".

  4. Remove the check mark in front of Cookies and Site Data.

  5. With Cookies and Site Data and Cached Web Content check marked, click the "Clear" button.

  6. Close the about:preferences page. Any changes you've made will automatically be saved.

Microsoft Edge 

  1. Select Settings and more  > Settings  > Privacy, search, and services .

  2. Under Clear browsing data Clear browsing data now, select Choose what to clear.

  3. Under Time range, choose a time range from the drop-down menu.

  4. Choose the types of browsing data you want to clear (see the table below for descriptions).
    For example, you may want to remove browsing history and cookies but keep passwords and form fill data.

  5. Select Clear now.

Internet Explorer 

Internet Explorer (IE) 11 is the last major version of Internet Explorer. On June 15, 2022, the Internet Explorer 11 desktop application is no longer be supported on certain versions of Windows.

To clear your browser cache:

  1. Click on the Settings menu in the upper-right corner.
  2. Click Internet options.
  3. Under the General tab on the upper-left-hand side, scroll down to Browsing history.
  4. Select Delete...
  5. Check the Temporary Internet files and website files and Cookies and website data boxes.
  6. Select Delete
  7. Close Internet Explorer and reopen it for changes to take effect.
