The outdoor vinyl art galleries around UMB’s Pearl Garage feature colorful artwork from the first four issues of 1807, the university’s art and literary journal. The galleries showcase the creative work of UMB faculty, staff, students, alumni, medical center employees, and community members. They feature a mix of paintings, sculpture, jewelry, digital art, poetry, photos, and more—each telling a story about who we are, where we live, and how we see the world.

These galleries create a welcoming and easy-to-enjoy art space just a short walk from Lexington Market, with outdoor seating nearby for relaxing and taking it all in.

  • Pearl North Gallery

    1807 Pearl Gallery North

A beaded mermaid, a glass kaleidoscope of color, lunar eclipse photography, and a giant cicada are among the two dozen eye-catching works in Pearl Gallery North, the vinyl art installation from Issue 4 of 1807. UMB President Bruce Jarrell praised the diversity and emotional depth of the featured works, while Jennifer Litchman, senior VP for external relations and founder of the Council for the Arts and Culture, highlighted the power of art to foster reflection and connection across disciplines. Dana Rampolla, director of integrated marketing and creative lead for 1807 and the galleries, noted the artscape’s role in bridging art, academia, and the West Baltimore community.
