SAS (pronounced "sass", originally Statistical Analysis System) is an integrated system of software products provided by SAS Institute that enables the programmer to perform:data entry, retrieval, management, and mining; report writing and graphics; statistical analysis; business planning, forecasting, and decision support; operations research and project management; quality improvement; applications development; data warehousing (extract, transform, load).

Teaching and Academic Research Use

To be eligible for academic pricing you must use SAS Software for teaching and training of registered students. The software is also available for performing non-commercial and non-profit academic research work and aims to include SAS software courses into the curriculum.  The Software may be used by Users and Students only in conjunction with classroom instruction and coursework directly related to Customer's post-secondary degree requirements, including the formulation of theses and dissertations, and Customer's noncommercial research activities ("Teaching and Research").  Commercial research activity is research that is performed by Customer for compensation and includes, but is not limited to, research that is in fulfillment of or funded by a government related program or initiative the results of which will be sold or serviced to or by nonacademic markets and used by nonacademic users located on nonacademic premises. Noncommercial research activity is research that is conducted using Authorized Hardware located on Customer's premises and is (x) in support of Customer's degree-granting requirements or a faculty member's tenure; (y) federally funded in support of academia; or (z) in fulfillment of or funded by a university related program or initiative.

SAS licenses available for Administrative Use

Administrative Use

To be eligible for administrative pricing you must be using the software solely in support of activities associated with Customer's operations as an academic institution. This includes but is not limited to reporting and analysis of data about the university on behalf of the university, management information, planning, institutional research, quality assurance, admissions, financial aid, academic affairs, statistical support and statutory reporting services for the university.
