CITS Accountable Lead – LaVern Phillips

Description: This project sets up the necessary Azure foundation components such as networking configuration; implementing the Palo Alto firewall, including moving exiting Azure firewall rules, converting network security groups (NSGs), move School of Medicine (SOM) to the CITS Azure Express Route (excluding University of Maryland Medical System [UMMS] network range). All Azure firewall rules have been moved to Palo Alto. The NSG conversion continues with the Infrastructure group.

CITS Accountable Lead – Ryan Whyms

Description: This project will establish Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) framework & presence for a variety of use cases and investigate posture checking capabilities to evaluate remotely connecting devices. We are concluding a pilot with CITS and Central Administration users. We are also piloting the use of thin operating system hardware to access the virtual desktop. These devices are less expensive than traditional workstations and laptop computers.

CITS Accountable Lead – LaVern Phillips

Description: This project will assess all telephone lines and move all analog lines to Voice over Internet Protocols (VoIP) that can be moved.  This project has been completed.

CITS Accountable Lead: Trisha Kaufman

Description: This project will move all applications running on the ColdFusion platform to the Azure cloud environment. 66% of ColdFusion applications and 34% of databases have been migrated as of the end of September 2023. Further effort for this project will continue.

CITS Accountable Lead – Ryan Holtz

Description: This project implements CRM Recruit in various schools. Overall goal is to retire web admissions by March 2024. The School of Medicine (SOM) finished as of October 1, 2023, which includes 4 programs within SOM. School of Dentistry has chosen a different CRM tool and will need assistance integrating it with Banner, which is not in scope for this project. The School of Pharmacy has expressed interest in implementing CRM.

CITS Accountable Lead – Brent Nickles

Description: This project moves UMB databases into cloud environments. Moves for systems such as Advance, Banner, and others will be to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Additional applications that are complete are Archibus, Image Now, Service Desk, Advance, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.

CITS Accountable Lead – LaVern Phillips

Description: This project will determine how we can decommission the F5 server traffic load balancer and achieve load balancing with existing tools. We have dealt with eTravel/PeopleSoft Portal. Remaining systems to move include ColdFusion, PeopleSoft HRMS, and Banner. ElmWeb will be archived.

CITS Accountable Lead – Ryan Holtz

Description: This project implements Degree Works in various schools. Completed with the School of Social Work, the School of Law, and the School of Pharmacy. Degree Works is ready for them to use with launches planned this fall. The CITS project is now complete.

CITS Accountable Lead – Dr. Peter Murray

Description: The goal for this project is to replace all the helpdesk ticketing platforms at UMB with one solution.

CITS Accountable Lead – Michael Brown

Description: We have assisted the School of Nursing (SON) with developing new reports in Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) for Banner. We have taught their report writers how to create their own reports in OAC. We have also demonstrated the ability to move reports between the development and production environments. This project is complete as of August 31, 2023.

CITS Accountable Lead – Michael Brown

Description: We are assisting the Bursar’s office and the Registrar’s office with migrating legacy reports to and developing new reports in Oracle Analytics Cloud for student data. School of Dentistry and the Grad School are both completed. 75% complete for the Registrar’s office. School of Law, the Physical Therapy department and the Registrar’s office are aiming for completion by the end of October 2023.

CITS Accountable Lead – Dr. Murray

Description: The Azure infrastructure and needed networking have been put together to create a Secure Research Environment (SRE). The TriNetX research project feasibility appliance successfully conducted a pilot and is now in production use. We have begun bringing users into the Production environment with actual research projects.
