COLA Decision Announced

Dear Faculty and Staff:

I am very pleased to let you know that the state has mandated a 2 percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) to salary that will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2015, for most UMB employees. The salary increase will appear in your Jan. 30 paycheck, and the amount of the salary increase will be retroactive to Jan. 1. To be eligible for the COLA, employees must be active on the UMB payroll as of Dec. 31, 2014, and Jan. 1, 2015.

The following categories of employees will receive the COLA:

  • Regular Faculty — tenured, tenure-track, non-tenure-track
  • Librarians
  • Regular Exempt and Nonexempt Staff
  • Contingent Category II Exempt and Nonexempt Staff where the contract indicates eligibility for a COLA
  • Postdoctoral Fellows not on National Research Service Award training grants

We continue to actively monitor the state’s budget situation, and we are taking steps to responsibly manage our own budget. We will continue to update you as we receive more information.
