Throughout the year, the Office of the President hosts a series of signature events that reflect the mission, values, and academic excellence of the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB). These events bring together students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners to celebrate achievements, engage in thought-provoking dialogue, and foster a strong sense of university pride and connection.
The UMB Core Values Speaker Series promotes the values of Respect and Integrity, Well-Being and Sustainability, Equity and Justice, and Innovation and Discovery. National and international leaders come to UMB to talk about their expertise and experiences to a broad University/ communitywide audience.
UMB celebrates its students, faculty, and staff and pays tribute to its long history each year with a series of Founders Week events.
In May each year, UMB celebrates the graduates of its seven schools with hooding and convocation ceremonies across campus.
Each year, UMB commemorates the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This celebration reinforces UMB’s commitment to access and engagement. An inspiring keynote message is delivered by a distinguished leader or scholar in the field.
UMB celebrates Women’s History Month to commemorate the pioneering, courageous women of our past and to honor those who are continuing the legacy of these incredible women to propel this University, our state, nation, and world toward true equality, inclusion, and opportunity.
