Leaders in Education: Academy of Presidential Scholars

LEAPS  is a new initiative supporting the educational priorities outlined by University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) President Bruce E. Jarrell, MD, FACS, and seeking to recognize and advance the achievements of educators in each UMB school. By developing faculty members’ skills and knowledge as educational thought leaders and scholars, UMB and its schools will strengthen existing educational programs, develop novel educational methods, and advance educational innovations and scholarship.

Every 10 years, UMB undergoes a reaffirmation of its accreditation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. This comprehensive evaluation strengthens the University and helps sustain the quality and integrity of the education UMB provides.

The President’s Symposium and White Paper Project is an interprofessional initiative that engages faculty, staff, and students from every UMB school in a yearlong conversation on a topic of importance to the University community.

The 2022‒2026 Strategic Plan outlines the University’s five-year goals and tactics. UMB’s individual schools and units will make the Strategic Plan “come alive” by developing measurable goals that align with the strategic objectives and put UMB on a trajectory to realize the strategic outcomes in the plan.
