Mary Jo Bondy, DHEd, MHS, PA-C, has been a physician assistant (PA) for three decades, practicing clinically in multiple specialties and serving as an educator for 27 years. She is the founding program director for the Doctor of Medical Science Program and an associate professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB). She serves as the associate dean of the School of Graduate Studies. She returned to UMB after serving as CEO for the Physician Assistant Education Association from 2020 to 2022, enthusiastic about creating leaders and champions to improve quality of care, population health, and clinician experience.
Dr. Bondy has served in multiple volunteer and leadership roles at the state and national levels. She has been a tireless advocate for patients and PAs. In 2018, she founded the Physician Assistant Leadership and Learning Academy, and, in 2014, she led the collaboration between UMB and Anne Arundel Community College and established and led the Academic Innovation and Distance Education office at UMB. She has contributed to the development of multiple new degrees at UMB including the Master of Health Science and the PhD for Health Professions Education.
