Institutional Learning Outcomes

At the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), we are dedicated to delivering a high-quality education. Our commitment is grounded in the belief that all UMB graduates, regardless of their chosen program of study, will emerge well-prepared in several essential areas. These ILOs embody the essence of a UMB education and are intrinsic to our mission and core values.

In 2021, we initiated a quest to define and articulate the outcomes that underscore the UMB experience. These outcomes not only enhance the value of a UMB education but also align with the criteria set by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, our accrediting body. These criteria require accredited institutions to have clearly defined educational goals at both the institution and degree/program levels. These goals should be interconnected, relevant to educational experiences, and aligned with the institution's mission.
