Learning Outcomes
Through participation in Emerging Leaders, candidates are expected to:

- Cultivate a professional network of cohort peers and UMB leadership.
- Identify professional goals and determine next steps to achieve them.
- Explore components of leadership including leadership styles, emotional intelligence, conflict management, and influence to increase self-awareness and strengthen leadership capacity.

- Increase emotional intelligence to improve interpersonal relationships and better navigate complex professional environments.
- Identify professional goals and determine next steps to achieve them.
- Explore and understand essential components of leadership to strengthen leadership capacity.

- Network effectively, leveraging a personal brand that reflects your values and identity.
- Integrate best practices for fostering an inclusive work environment.
Organizational Leadership
- Identify strategies for influencing people at all organizational levels to achieve positive outcomes.
- Incorporate UMB core values into leadership practices.
Program Details
To be eligible, participants must be current UMB employees (Faculty and Staff) who:
- Demonstrate leadership potential
- Have the support of their direct manager
- Can commit to meeting program attendance requirements
Program Timeline: September 2025 - June 2026
Program Commitments: Participant should expect to spend approximately 2-3 hours per month. This includes attending in person and/or virtual seminar and facilitated dialogue sessions as well as completing asynchronous reflection activities.
Applications for the 2025-26 Emerging Leaders cohort will open in June.
