Help Shape the Future of the Staff Experience at UMB – Your Voice Matters.

The 2026 Staff Experience Survey is your opportunity to share feedback, highlight what's working, and help identify areas for improvement. Your input will guide actions that strengthen the employee experience across UMB.

Staff Experience Survey

The Staff Experience Survey provides UMB staff with an opportunity to share feedback about their workplace experiences and help shape the future of the employee experience at UMB.

The survey is designed to better understand what is working well and where we have opportunities to improve. Feedback gathered through the survey will help guide decisions, action planning, and initiatives that support a positive and engaging work environment for staff across the University.

Your participation is important. The more staff who share their perspectives, the better we can understand the staff experience and identify meaningful opportunities for improvement.

The 2026 Staff Experience Survey will be open from September 29th through October 16, 2026.

Survey responses are confidential and results will be reported in aggregate.

If you have questions about the survey, please contact umbexperience@umaryland.edu.

    • Identify strengths and areas of opportunity
    • Inform action planning efforts
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives
    • Enhance the overall staff experience at UMB

We are committed not only to listening to staff feedback, but also to using that feedback to drive meaningful action.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Staff Experience Survey gives UMB staff an opportunity to share feedback about working at the University of Maryland, Baltimore and about factors that shape the day-to-day work experience. The survey will help UMB better understand what is working well and where there are opportunities to improve the staff experience.

UMB is conducting the survey to better understand staff perspectives on institutional, departmental, and supervisory factors that affect the work experience. The results will help identify strengths, highlight areas that need attention, and inform action planning and other improvement efforts across the University.

Every response helps create a more complete picture of the staff experience at UMB. Strong participation provides more meaningful information and helps leaders better understand what staff value, what may need improvement, and where action could have the greatest impact.

Staff employees across all seven schools and UMB administrative units will receive the survey.

Participation is voluntary, but all eligible staff are strongly encouraged to take part. Broad participation helps ensure that the results reflect a wide range of staff experiences and perspectives.

The 2026 Staff Experience Survey will open Tuesday, September 29, 2026, and close Friday, October 16, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

The survey is expected to take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

Eligible staff will receive an email invitation from umbexperience@umaryland.edu. Please do not share, forward, or delete that email until you have completed and submitted the survey. It contains your individualized survey link and cannot be replaced.

Staff may complete the survey during work time or outside of work using a computer or mobile device. Staff who choose to complete the survey outside their regular work schedule will not be paid for that time.

The survey must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026.

If you cannot finish the survey all at once, you may save your progress and return later using the link in your survey invitation email. Be sure to keep the original email until you have completed and submitted the survey.

The survey includes questions about workplace culture, communication, leadership, supervision, collaboration, professional growth, wellbeing, support, and overall engagement.

If you changed departments ON or BEFORE Aug. 29, 2026, you should respond to the survey items for your NEW department. If you changed departments AFTER that date, you should respond for your OLD department.

Yes. Survey responses are anonymous and results will be reported only in aggregate. Individual responses will not be identified.

The survey process is designed so that UMB does not receive information connecting an individual staff member to a specific response. Survey invitations use individualized access links to help ensure that only invited participants complete the survey. Results are summarized and reported for groups rather than individuals.

DASR Pro, an independent survey and analytics firm, will distribute the survey, collect responses, and provide aggregated results to UMB.

Survey results will help UMB identify strengths and areas for improvement, support action planning, guide workplace enhancements, and inform decisions that affect the staff experience. Findings will be shared in aggregate and used to help strengthen the workplace experience across the University.
