Benefits & Wellness

The Benefits team is responsible for the delivery and administration of university benefits focused on supporting the health and wellbeing of our employees. We provide customer service, communications, and consultation to ensure that employees can make the most of their benefits. Key responsibilities include:

  • Educating employees about available benefits, helping them understand options, and answering questions
  • Designing and implementing Launch Your Life, wellbeing initiatives and programs, to encourage healthy behaviors, improve overall wellbeing, and increase employee engagement
  • Conducting retirement counseling, which provides guidance and support to individuals planning for retirement
  • Ensuring that benefits programs comply with federal, state, and local laws
  • Serving as the liaison for the State Office of Budget Management, which administers benefits to ensure data quality
  • Processing benefits, enrollments, and changes/adjustments, ensuring proper documentation and eligibility
  • Supporting the tuition remission process
  • Managing the annual open enrollment process
  • Maintaining and supporting employee discount programs
  • Performing analysis and forecasting for purposes of costing and reporting

Compensation

The Compensation team is responsible for overseeing the institution’s compensation strategy by managing employee compensation programs, policies and practices. Its primary goals are to ensure that compensation is competitive, equitable, and aligned with institutional objectives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Classifying positions and determining appropriate compensation based on job duties and skills
  • Recommending titles and salary levels for Exempt and Nonexempt staff
  • Analyzing, creating, revising, and managing job descriptions and job evaluations
  • Administering the COLA & Merit program
  • Reviewing and validating all compensation changes
  • Analyzing competitive market data, compensation trends, and pay practices
  • Providing consultation to decision-makers throughout the University, including executive compensation reviews
  • Conducting salary surveys, benchmarking, and equity reviews to ensure the institution remains competitive in attracting and retaining talent
  • Making recommendations on organizational structure, allocation of resources, and providing guidance on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretation, and job evaluation
  • Performing analysis and forecasting for purposes of costing and reporting
