Letters from the Chief to the Community

UMB Partners with Lyft on Two On-Demand Ride Programs

To the UMB Community:

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is excited to announce that it is launching two new on-demand ride programs in a partnership with Lyft on Tuesday, Nov. 24. The programs are available to all current UMB students, faculty, and staff:

These programs are intended to better serve the UMB community with affordable, on-demand options, given that the UM shuttle and the UMB Police Department’s Safe Ride program are on hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

All currently enrolled students and active faculty and staff can sign up and participate in both programs.

Please note that you must opt in to each program and use your UMB email address when signing up. If you have a Lyft account associated with a different email address, Lyft will allow you to have two email addresses on your account. If you have any issues, please contact the UMB Help Desk via email or at 410-706-HELP.

How to Sign Up

Keep an eye on your UMB inbox for two email invitations from Lyft Business on Tuesday, Nov. 24, one for Lyft On-Demand Shuttle and one for Lyft Ride Smart at UMB.

Simply follow the steps in the emails to join each program and receive the discount on eligible rides.
