Writing and Editing

Our two-person Editorial Team has more than 70 years of combined professional experience, including over 50 years at major newspapers such as The Baltimore Sun and USA TODAY. We cover internal events and take on editing projects of every size, serving UMB’s central administration and all seven schools.

What We Offer

We support your content from first draft to final proof, including:

• Consultation and editorial guidance
• Copy editing for clarity, accuracy, and UMB style
• Proofreading for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting
• Writing for news, features, and event stories in print and online
• Billable writing services on a limited basis to UMB departments and the seven schools

Request Editorial Services

Submit a design request form and select “editorial only,” or send your Word document directly through the form.

Important notes about how our services work:

1. Edited files are returned as both a “Track Changes” copy (which will show what has been edited) and a clean copy.
2. You review Editorial’s edits and accept the edits or send back a “Track Changes” Word document with further edits.
3. If your project includes a design element, Editorial coordinates directly with OCPA’s Design Team and proofreads the first design draft.
4. The edited version is sent to you for approval, and proofreading continues as needed until final approval.
