Integrating a Global Health Framework into the Doctor of Nursing Practice Specialty of Population Health
Dr. Lori Edwards
School of Nursing
Associate Dean; Associate Professor
Dr. Edwards will focus on strengthening the new Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) specialty in Population Health and integrating a global health framework throughout the program. She plans to incorporate global health competencies into selected courses, practicum experiences, and student scholarly DNP projects while expanding partnerships with organizations that provide population-focused global health practicum opportunities. Using curriculum mapping and innovative teaching strategies, she will develop specific educational modules examining global health systems, health policy, planetary health, and global health equity. This initiative will prepare future population health nurse leaders to address complex global challenges through evidence-based, systems-level, and interprofessional approaches.
