International Perspectives on the Practice of Dentistry
Dr. Fotini Anagnostopoulos-King
School of Dentistry
Clinical Associate Professor
Fotini plans to address a gap in dental education by exploring what students may not yet understand about dentistry as practiced globally, particularly regarding provider wellness. Rather than exporting local approaches, it examines international perspectives on ergonomics, workload management, and musculoskeletal disorder prevention to promote sustainable professional habits. Global content will be integrated into preclinical and clinical training through comparative case discussions, seminars, reflective assignments, and a wellness-focused elective course. The initiative aims to foster cultural awareness, adaptability, and critical thinking among students and faculty, with outcomes shared through curriculum development, faculty engagement, scholarly publication, and professional presentations.
