Diabetes Module Focused on Social Determinants of Health in the Hispanic Population
Dr. Charmaine Eyeguokan
School of Pharmacy
Professor and Vice Chair of Clinical Services
Dr. Eyeguokan will develop a diabetes module focused on the social determinants of health in the Hispanic population, who are heavily overrepresented in diabetes. This module would include diverse case studies highlighting disparities in healthcare access and outcomes between different populations. By examining these issues, students will gain insights into how cultural beliefs and practices shape health behaviors and healthcare systems. Her goal is to expose students to international health challenges and diverse models of care to help cultivate cultural humility, empathy, and a broader understanding of healthcare systems in an increasingly interconnected world.
