Globalizing the Sociology Curriculum

Dr. McLaughlin aims to globalize her sociology curriculum and help future students connect with Latin American gender equity organizations. The primary goal is to shift an upper-level women’s empowerment course from passive online research to active collaboration, challenging students' cultural biases through direct dialogue. A secondary goal is to introduce global perspectives into a high-enrollment introductory course to foster global citizenship. Additionally, as an Academic Advisor, Amy will share her insights with faculty and advising teams to maximize institutional impact.
