New Course: “Clean Energy Law and Policy"
Seema Kakade, JD
UMB Carey School of Law
Professor of Law
Seema developed a new course, “Clean Energy Law and Policy,” which was offered for the first time in Spring 2026 to full-time JD students. She plans to cover both supply (e.g. wind, biofuel) and demand (e.g. transportation, agriculture), and broader content on climate change and transboundary infrastructure. She plans to include case studies of countries that have effectively used law and policy mechanisms to address challenges such as energy justice. Lastly, she wants to discuss the role of international governance (e.g. United Nations), and global private environmental governance (e.g. multi-national companies) in clean energy.
