Global Perspectives on Access and Coverage of Prescription Medications through Creation of Two Educational Modules
Dr. Catherine Cooke
UMB School of Pharmacy
Research Professor
Dr. Cooke's project will provide a global perspective on access and coverage of prescription medications through the creation of two educational modules for a didactic elective course. Access refers to the market availability of prescription medications while coverage refers to the financing and payment for prescription medications. The first module on medication access will explore the regulatory agencies and mechanisms that oversee drug approval in different nations. The second module on coverage of prescription medications will explore the financing and payment systems for prescription medications. These two modules will be included in a revised and potentially renamed Managed Care Pharmacy elective.
