Testing Services
The Student Counseling Center (SCC) provides Psychoeducational Testing for neurodevelopmental concerns such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and learning concerns. Psychoeducational testing is a thorough process that usually involves multiple appointments and collecting information in different ways.
- Student will participate in a phone triage for testing, where they will speak to a counselor who will ask about symptoms, when they began, and whether the student has participated in previous evaluations. Following the phone triage, the counselor gives information to the Testing Psychologist, who makes a determination for eligibility.
- If student is found eligible for services, they will be contacted by the Testing Psychologist for a pre-testing consultation, where they will have an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the testing , including the process for collecting collateral data, before being placed on the waitlist.
- Collateral data refers to information that corroborates or supports self-reported information and is essential to the testing process to learn more about a student’s developmental history. Collateral data includes additional records, such as report cards, previous testing reports, standardized testing scores, etc. Collateral data also includes speaking with someone, ideally a parent or caregiver, who knew the student well as a child.
- Once student reaches top of waitlist, they will participate in a clinical interview, testing sessions, and a feedback . If a student attends all scheduled appointments, the testing process should be approximately 4-6 weeks. The report and subsequent feedback session will be ready approximately 2 weeks after the final testing appointment.
Testing may take place over several weeks to complete all appointments and compile results into a report. If you have additional questions about our testing services, please call (410) 328-8404.
