Testing Services

The Student Counseling Center (SCC) provides Psychoeducational Testing for neurodevelopmental concerns such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and learning concerns. Psychoeducational testing is a thorough process that usually involves multiple appointments and collecting information in different ways.

  • Student will participate in a phone triage for testing, where they will speak to a counselor who will ask about symptoms, when they began, and whether the student has participated in previous evaluations. Following the phone triage, the counselor gives information to the Testing Psychologist, who makes a determination for eligibility.
  • If student is found eligible for services, they will be contacted by the Testing Psychologist for a pre-testing consultation, where they will have an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the testing , including the process for collecting collateral data, before being placed on the waitlist.
  • Collateral data refers to information that corroborates or supports self-reported information and is essential to the testing process to learn more about a student’s developmental history. Collateral data includes additional records, such as report cards, previous testing reports, standardized testing scores, etc. Collateral data also includes speaking with someone, ideally a parent or caregiver, who knew the student well as a child.
  • Once student reaches top of waitlist, they will participate in a clinical interview, testing sessions, and a feedback . If a student attends all scheduled appointments, the testing process should be approximately 4-6 weeks. The report and subsequent feedback session will be ready approximately 2 weeks after the final testing appointment.

Testing may take place over several weeks to complete all appointments and compile results into a report. If you have additional questions about our testing services, please call (410) 328-8404.

No. Testing services are not covered by the student services fee and will require an out of pocket flat rate fee of $70.00

Each testing session is typically 1-2 hours. There will be a minimum of four appointments, but can be more if needed.

After the phone triage, eligible students will be put on a waitlist. Once at the top of the waitlist, it will take approximately 6-8 weeks to complete the testing process.

Time frame is dependent on students' ability to keep appointments and turn in all paperwork promptly.

If the criteria for SCC testing is not met, the SCC will contact you to inform you of ineligibility and provide appropriate resources that will assist in addressing symptoms.

The SCC will also provide referrals for students that want to seek testing with community providers.

No. All information discussed, testing materials, and test results are confidential.

Yes. If a diagnosis is made, it will be included in the report, as well as recommendations for accommodations. However, the SCC and Testing Psychologist cannot guarantee that other entities (i.e. licensure boards) will grant accommodations based off of testing results.

Additionally, for licensure exams, you should check with your licensure board about specific requirements needed for accommodations and bring them to the first appointment. Many licensing boards have requirements for what tests should be administered, as well as what information is included in the report.

The feedback session and testing report will include recommendations to address your concerns even if you do not meet criteria for a diagnosis.

If you would prefer to request a new evaluation with a different provider, the SCC can provide referral assistance for testing off-campus. Even if you do not meet criteria for a diagnosis, a thorough evaluation can provide helpful recommendations and ways to manage your current concerns.
