The Student Fee Advisory Board (SFAB) is composed of students from different programs who represent student interests in the annual mandatory fee review process. 

The SFAB advises the president and the Board of Regents of the University of Maryland, Baltimore on fees involving the Student Government Association, student transportation, student parking, campus center infrastructure, student services, housing, technology and late fees for tuition. Under each section you will see the approved fee for the Academic Year (AY). Learn more about how the board operates. 

 

Student Government Association Fee

Student Government Association Fee supports the University Student Government Association (USGA) and its associated operations and programming.

Student Transportation Fee

The student transportation fee supports the operation of the UM Shuttle.

Student Parking Fee

The student parking fee supports the operation of student parking on campus and is only for students who park on campus. This fee covers maintenance, renovations, operating costs, and increased expenditures of the parking garages. This fee also contributes towards the Lexington Market Garage Rooftop lease, as well as the parking contractors at each garage, which increase 2% per year.

Campus Center Infrastructure and Services Fee

Campus Center Infrastructure and Services Fee supports URecFit, student affairs programming and the operations of the SMC Campus Center. 

This fee was renamed in November 2016. The fee was previously named Support Facility Fee.

Off Campus Student Services Fee

Off Campus Student Services Fee facilitates programs that online students can utilize, such as the writing center, wellness center, disability services, and international student support. This includes all University of Maryland, Baltimore students enrolled in off-campus programs (e.g. Shady Grove, Master’s in Law, etc.). Students in online and off-campus programs do not pay the Campus Center Infrastructure and Services Fee.

 

This fee was proposed in November 2016 as a new fee.

In FY19 it was proposed and approved to apply the fee to the summer students. 

This fee was renamed from Online Student Services Fee to Off Campus Student Services Fee in FY20

Tuition Late Fee

Tuition Late Fee is charged when tuition is paid late, at a rate of 5% of the tuition with a maximum. The Tuition Late Fee is waived if financial aid distribution is late.
