The University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) Office of Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) helps students, faculty, and staff reduce their impact on the environment by offering a variety of alternative transportation programs. MTA Commuter Benefits

A Maryland law provides free ridership services for all permanent (regular) University System of Maryland faculty and staff members on Maryland Transit Administration’s (MTA) systems.  Permanent (regular) status UMB faculty and staff can use the Light Rail, Baltimore Metro Subway, local bus service, and Baltimore regional commuter bus service lines (120, 150, 210, 215, 310, 320, 410, 411, and 420) at no charge by presenting their UMB One Card with the affixed MTA sticker.

UMB shuttle

The UMB shuttle contributes to a vibrant, dynamic University community by transporting UMB students, faculty, and staff to and from UMB. The UMB shuttle provides bus routes that travel to neighborhoods such as Mount Vernon, Federal Hill, and Canton/Fells Point.

Bike Parking

UMB is committed to being a bike-friendly university with enhanced alternative transportation and mobility options. 

Bike racks are integral to helping individuals switch their commuting practices to more active modes such as walking or cycling. Given the costs associated with adding more parking spaces for automobiles, and as a downtown campus with limited space to grow, UMB should explore ways to begin improving and adding bike racks to the campus’ infrastructure. Bike racks are located throughout campus at most of the schools, garages, and the University Maryland Medical Center.

We have also created a UMB Bike Commuters Teams site. This space can be used to discuss the best bike routes for getting to and from campus, find a commute buddy, and more. The Teams site will be an informal meeting place for all students, staff, and faculty – from those who are new to biking or only beginning to consider it as an option to experienced cyclists. Join the community on Teams here. Please note: If you are from the School of Medicine, send a request to join this team to sustainability@umaryland.edu.
