Required Research Security Training - Announcement
Hello RAC Community,
Research Security (RS) training is mandated by NSPM-33 and the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022. The Department of Energy has already instituted the RS training requirement, and we have received information from COGR and the Federal Demonstration Partnership that additional sponsors such as the National Science Foundation and the Department of Defense will require RS training along with institutional and individual certifications attesting to the completed training this coming Fall. Attached you will find a communication and workplan that explains the who, what, when and why of the RS training requirement.
Covered Individuals and Key Persons who have submitted a proposal for federal funding within the past twelve months, either directly or through a pass-through entity, will be required to complete UMB’s Research Security Training by August 31st. These individuals will receive automated emails from Percipio of their assignment to complete RS training. Other Covered Individuals and Key Persons who plan to submit proposals or who will receive a federal award/contract will be required to complete the training by September 15th. These dates were selected to provide researchers with flexibility in completing the one-hour training, stay ahead of the training mandates and, ensure UMB researchers are protected from unexpected, last-minute policy changes and hard deadlines.
The RS Training can be accessed here [UMB log-in required]. The link to the training is also imbedded in the communication. Please be sure to download and save the certificate once the training is complete. Email the Research Security Manager or SPA-Research_Security with questions.
Thank you.
