Announcing Search for Next Dean of the School of Nursing
Dear UMB Community,
The national search for the next dean of the University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) is underway. The next dean will succeed Jane M. Kirschling, PhD, RN, FAAN, the Bill and Joanne Conway Dean of UMSON, who announced in October her decision to step down at the end of the 2022-2023 academic year.
Mark Reynolds, DDS, PhD, MA, dean of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, is chairing the search committee with Lisa Rowen, DNSc, RN, CENP, FAAN, system chief nurse executive for the University of Maryland Medical System and professor and alumna of UMSON, as vice chair. The firm Korn Ferry will assist the committee in the national search. The members of the search committee are:
- Susan Antol, PhD, MS, RN, assistant professor, Department of Partnerships, Professional Education, and Practice, and director, Wellmobile and School-Based Wellness Programs, UMSON
- Sarah Clem, MSW, PhD student and member, Graduate Student Association Executive Board, University of Maryland School of Social Work
- Hershaw Davis, MSN, RN, clinical instructor, Department of Organizational Systems and Adult Health, UMSON
- Susan G. Dorsey, PhD, RN, FAAN, professor, Department of Pain and Translational Symptom Science, UMSON, and co-director, University of Maryland Center to Advance Chronic Pain Research
- Karen E. Doyle, DNP, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer, University of Maryland Medical System
- Bill Gardiner, CPA, MBA, associate dean for administration and finance, UMSON
- Jana Goodwin, PhD, RN, CNE, assistant professor and chair, UMSON Program at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG)
- Eun-Shim Nahm, PhD, RN, FAAN, FGSA, professor and associate dean for the PhD Program, Department of Organizational Systems and Adult Health, and co-director, Postdoctoral Program, Office of the Academic Deans, UMSON
- Mary Therese Phelan, media and public relations manager, UMSON
- Joanne Pinna, MS, senior instructional technology specialist/web developer, UMSON
- Jessica Pitzer, second-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing student, UMSON
- Kristen E. Rawlett, PhD, FNP-BC, FAANP, associate professor, Department of Family and Community Health, and chair, UMSON Faculty Council

- Susan M. Wozenski, JD, MPH, assistant professor and chair, Department of Family and Community Health, and dual-degree director, Master of Public Health Program, University of Maryland School of Medicine
