Guidance to UMB Students Regarding International Travel

March 1, 2020

Dear Students,

In partnership with our colleagues at the University of Maryland Medical System we've created travel guidelines to protect the safety of all employees, physicians, patients and those in our communities. These guidelines are to encourage safe travel by all members of our community. Please follow this link for UMB guidance for international travel of UMB students.

We rely on information provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. State Department, state and local health departments, and on-campus public health experts to guide decisions concerning where and when we travel in the world.  We encourage all UMB international travelers to follow the precautions issued by the CDC and the advice of International SOS (UMB's medical and safety assistance provider) regarding health and safety measures.

The University is actively monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak, staying up to date on the latest guidance from the CDC, and being proactive in implementing measures to keep our UMB community safe.  The University's Emergency Management Team, organized specifically for this outbreak, is meeting regularly to evaluate the current situation and make decisions to safeguard the health of our community. We continue to urge all members of our community at home and abroad to practice preventive actions to help stop the spread of germs.

For the latest information and updates from the university, visit the UMB dedicated novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) website. Thank you for all you do for UMB and those we serve.  We will continue to strive to keep you safe and healthy so that we can all continue to improve the human condition globally.

Sincerely,

Bruce E. Jarrell, MD, FACS
Interim President
