Results from the Maryland Charity Campaign

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to announce the final results of the Maryland Charity Campaign(MCC), Maryland's workplace charitable giving program, which kicked off last fall and ended in December. State employees and retirees raised over $2,566,000. Of that, our University raised more than $184,745 from 255 of our talented faculty, staff, and retirees.

This year, due to the generosity of our UMB community, we exceeded the fundraising goal set for us by the Office of the Secretary of State. We are among only five University System of Maryland institutions that exceeded their goal. I extend my sincere appreciation to all who donated for their dedication to the causes they care about. A substantial number of nonprofits in our area and beyond will benefit from your philanthropic contributions.

I'd like to commend our 2019 UMB MCC co-chairs: Vicky Hunter, MS, assistant vice president for infrastructure services in the Center for Information Technology Services; Tony Lehman, MD, MSPH, senior associate dean for clinical affairs in the School of Medicine; Tim Munn, MS, assistant dean for information technology in the School of Pharmacy; and M.J. Tooey, MLS, AHIP, FMLA, associate vice president and executive director of the Health Sciences and Human Services Library. I'd also like to thank our UMB MCC liaisons, Lisa Vuolo, director of annual giving in the Office of Philanthropy, and Bill Crockett, MS, RCRSP, executive director of Campus Life Services. Your combined efforts were imperative to our success.

If you missed the MCC campaign deadline but would like to make a gift to benefit our University, you may do so through our Proud to Work Here, Proud to Give Here campaign. If you're interested in serving on the Maryland Charity Campaigncommittee or Proud to Work Here, Proud to Give Here committee, please contactLisa Vuolo and Jana Stengel at annualgiving@umaryland.edu.
