2018-2019

Maryland Charity Campaign

Dear Colleagues:

Every year, UMB joins in the Maryland Charity Campaign (MCC), a community-based giving program encouraging state employees to support the causes they care about. This year, UMB's theme is Strengthening the Community

I'm grateful to four of our colleagues who've agreed to serve as our 2019 MCC co-chairs: Vicky Hunter, MS, assistant vice president for infrastructure services in the Center for Information Technology Services; Tony Lehman, MD, MSPH, senior associate dean for clinical affairs in the School of Medicine; Tim Munn, MS, assistant dean for information technology in the School of Pharmacy; and M.J. Tooey, MLS, AHIP, FMLA, associate vice president and executive director of the Health Sciences and Human Services Library.

Our goal this year, and every year, is to increase the number of UMB faculty and staff participating in the campaign. Gifts of every size will be helpful, celebrated, and deeply appreciated. Our campaign site includes links to this year's MCC Giving Guide, along with links allowing you to contribute and to watch some moving testimonials from colleagues who've given in the past.

If you're still considering where to direct your generosity, I invite you to attend our MCC Kickoff Fair on Monday, Nov. 11, 9 to 11 a.m., at the SMC Campus Center. It'll be a wonderful opportunity to hear from our campaign co-chairs and to speak with representatives from several local nonprofits that benefit from the MCC.

As we enter another season of giving, I ask you to consider supporting the organizations that are seeding and sustaining positive change here in our city and across the state, and I thank you for the generosity of spirit that drives your work, your service, and your philanthropy.

Sincerely,

Jay A. Perman, MD
President
