UMB Status

Dear Colleagues:

The latest forecast from the National Weather Service predicts high winds and heavy snowfall to begin Friday evening in the Baltimore area, developing into blizzard conditions throughout the region Friday night and on Saturday.  However, since normal weather conditions are predicted for most of the day Friday, the University will open as usual. UMB will close early, at 3 p.m., in order to ensure a safe trip home and to provide greater opportunity for our community to prepare for the storm.

Please be advised that UM shuttle service will operate on a reduced schedule Friday, with the last departures at noon (Routes 702 & 703) and 12:10 p.m. (Route 701).

If there are any updates or if additional action is required, that information will be sent to you without delay.  Please take a moment to ensure that you are signed up to receive UMB Alerts text messages and voice alerts. UMB Alerts and the UMB Emergency Information Hotline (410-706-8622) are the fastest ways to receive updates, and are the only official sources of UMB information.

Your work and your studies are very important, but the safety of every member of our community must be our highest priority. Please take all appropriate measures to prepare for this storm and be assured that we will carefully monitor forecasts and conditions as they develop.

Sincerely,

Jay A. Perman, MD
President
